When a deer has an encounter with a coyote, it understandably reacts with fear. But when a deer and a fox cross paths, the fear is replaced with curiosity. Mark Zakoski’s trail camera captured this image of a young buck inspecting a red fox while it soaks up the warm sun. The small stature of the fox doesn’t represent danger to the buck, and in this case both carnivore and herbivore are fine with a close encounter.
